Here is the story of how the little one came into this world!
I went to work in the morning to work my 12 hour shift!!
I met up with my doctor at about 0800 (yet another perk of working in L&D!) and she checked my cervix. She was concerned that the baby was really floating high in my abdomen and I had a ton of amniotic fluid. She was worried that if I went home and my water broke there could be a cord accident.
(ie: super scarey situation!)
So I talked to my teamleader and we decided that I would finish up the first half of my shift and then be admitted for induction!
I called Caleb and told him the news and he scrambled to get his work organized!
I clocked out of work at 1230 and then checked in as a patient!
So different from last time!
I was off work for 7 weeks before Mia was born!
Caleb went home and got our hospital bag and loaded Grammy and Mia into the van!
When Mia first saw me she came running into my arms and said
"Mommy, I decided that it doesn't matter if the baby is a boy or a girl! I am gonna love it either way!"
She is such a precious girl! I am so lucky to be her mommy!
My mom flew into town this morning to be here for the grand arrival!
So the party got started at about 2:30 When we got admitted to a room!
Grammy took Mia home for the night!
She was so excited to get a call in the morning telling her about the baby!
The party really got started at around 5:30 when they started pitocin.
By 9:30pm I was on 24mu of pitocin and contracting every 2 minutes!
I think that all that fluid was insulating me because they just weren't that painful!
I knew that I needed the doctor to break my water to get the show on the road!
She was hesitant to break my water again because of the cord accident thing.
She said she would recheck me in 2 hours and hopefully be able to do it then!
So we hung out and watched TV and tried to pass the time.
My sweet husband gave me a foot massage as my feet seemed to be growing before our eyes!
Then he did this and pretended that my water had broken and it was flooding the place!
(life wouldn't be complete without my silly husband!)
Finally at 11:30pm they came in and broke my water!
It was an all out flood!
It felt so crazy! Like white water rapids flowing out!
My belly shrunk so much!
I couldn't believe it!
This is how small my belly got after!
And probably my last smile before the baby was born!
About 3 contractions after they broke my water I was ready for the epidural!
Things really moved fast at that point.
I got the epidural, and almost immediately after that I felt the urge to push.
The pain was unbelievable!
Well the only thing I could do was push to end the madness!
I pushed with 3 contractions and voila!
Here was my baby!!!
